Monroe Shock Absorbers

Company Details

Monroe is one of the world’s leading manufacturers and sellers of high quality automotive products. From humble beginnings with the invention of the ‘Brisk Blast’ tyre pump in 1919, through to the development of the first original equipment passenger vehicle shock absorbers, Monroe has continued to lead the way in ride control component innovation and design. Monroe’s shock absorber developments have enhanced the road safety of millions of road users worldwide.

Manufacturing process

Monroe converts steel into high quality automotive products. One of their manufacturing processes is to cool extremely hot metal springs by dipping them into a quenching bath of oil. From this process they were creating a fine oil mist fume. There existing system was not capable of extraction this mist causing hazards throughout their factory. Airtight Solutions was called in to access this process and offer a completed engineered solutions.

Engineered solutions

Airtight Solutions was able to offer oil mist filter which was connected to their existing hoods over their quenching bath. This oil mist filter is specially designed to filter the oil mist from the air and collect the waste product returning only clean filtered air back into their factory. Airtight also installed a pressure transmitter and variable speed drive onto the exhaust fan. This allowed Airtight to set the variable speed drive so the fan would increase and decrease in the amount of extraction required.
