Wet Scrubbers
Industrial Air Pollution Control & Dust Removal
Wet Scrubbers are heavy-duty industrial air pollution control systems designed to remove fine dust, fumes and gaseous contaminants from process air using a liquid scrubbing medium. Engineered for high-efficiency particulate capture, these systems deliver reliable performance in manufacturing, metalworking, chemical processing and other industrial applications where dry filtration isn’t suitable. With robust construction and effective scrubbing action, our wet scrubbers improve workplace air quality, support regulatory compliance and enhance safety in demanding environments.

Description
Industrial Wet Scrubbers for Dust, Fumes & Gases
Airtight Solutions designs, manufactures and installs industrial wet scrubber systems for the removal of dust, fumes, gases and other contaminants from industrial exhaust streams.
Wet scrubbers use a scrubbing liquid, typically water or an application-specific solution, which is brought into contact with the contaminated gas stream. Particulates and/or gaseous contaminants are captured by the liquid before the treated air leaves the system.
Wet scrubbing can be particularly useful where a dry dust collector is not suitable, including applications involving moist air streams, high temperatures, corrosive gases or a combination of particulate and gaseous contaminants.
How Does a Wet Scrubber Work?
A wet scrubber introduces liquid into a contaminated air or gas stream to bring airborne pollutants into contact with the scrubbing medium.
Depending on the scrubber design and application, this contact can capture particulate matter, fumes, vapours and gases. The contaminants are transferred into the liquid stream, which then requires appropriate treatment or disposal.
The exact process varies depending on the contaminant and type of wet scrubber selected, which is why scrubber design needs to consider the gas flow rate, contaminant type, particle size, pollutant concentration, temperature and process conditions.
Wet Scrubber Types
Airtight Solutions offers several wet scrubber configurations, allowing the system to be designed around the contaminant and process requirements.
Venturi Scrubbers
Designed for high-efficiency particulate collection. The gas stream accelerates through a venturi section and interacts with finely dispersed scrubbing liquid, creating intensive contact between the contaminant and liquid droplets.
Spray Tower Scrubbers
Use spray nozzles to introduce liquid droplets into the contaminated gas stream. They can provide a lower-energy option for suitable applications, including the collection of coarser particles.
Packed Bed Scrubbers
Designed to maximise contact between the gas stream and scrubbing liquid through packed media. They are particularly suited to applications involving corrosive fumes and gaseous contaminants.
Chemical Scrubbers
Chemical scrubber configurations are available for applications such as odour control and where contaminants need to be treated using an appropriate scrubbing solution.
When Is a Wet Scrubber the Right Choice?
Wet scrubbers can be considered where an industrial process generates contaminants that are difficult or unsuitable for conventional dry filtration. Applications can include processes involving:
- Fine or coarse particulate
- Industrial fumes and gases
- Moist exhaust streams
- High-temperature gas streams
- Corrosive gases
- Odours and gaseous contaminants
- Combustible or non-flammable metal dust, where appropriately engineered
- Processes producing both particulate and gaseous contaminants
Airtight’s existing technical guidance specifically identifies wet scrubbers as capable of handling both particulate and gases and as suitable for certain high-temperature, moisture-containing and metal-dust applications.
Engineered Wet Scrubber Systems
There is no single wet scrubber configuration suitable for every process.
Airtight Solutions considers the contaminant being removed, particle characteristics, pollutant concentration, gas stream conditions, airflow requirements and wider process when designing a system.
Our team can provide a complete engineered solution incorporating the wet scrubber, industrial fans, ducting, controls and associated fume or dust extraction equipment, with installation and commissioning as required.
Airtight also provides ongoing wet scrubber maintenance and repairs to support reliable operation throughout the life of the system.

Features & Benefits
Capture dust and gases in one system
Wet scrubbers can be designed to remove particulate and gaseous contaminants from the same process air stream.
Multiple scrubber technologies
Venturi, spray tower, packed bed and chemical scrubber configurations allow the technology to be selected around the application.
Suitable for moist air streams
Wet scrubbing can be effective where moisture in the exhaust stream makes conventional dry filtration unsuitable.
High-temperature applications
Wet scrubbers can be engineered for suitable higher-temperature process exhaust applications.
Corrosive gas treatment
Appropriately designed scrubbers can use scrubbing chemistry to neutralise certain corrosive gaseous contaminants.
Engineered to suit the process
Scrubber selection and design can be based on contaminant characteristics, airflow, temperature, pollutant loading and site requirements.
Turnkey system capability
Airtight Solutions can design, manufacture and install complete wet scrubber and industrial air pollution control systems.
