Dry Fog
Target dust at transfer points
Air-atomising nozzles create a fine fog close to the dust source. Ideal for hoppers, crushers, screens and conveyor transfers where adding substantial moisture to material is undesirable.
NESCO Water Spray
Control dust across larger handling areas
Engineered water spray systems control dust across crushing plants, stackers and material handling areas. Spray placement can be tailored to suit the material, process conditions and water supply.

Effective dust control supports safer work and helps manage the effect of operations on surrounding areas. The controls required depend on the material, the activity and the obligations that apply to your site.
Workplace exposure. Current Australian workplace exposure standards apply until 1 December 2026. New workplace exposure limits are due to apply from that date through relevant jurisdictional laws. Silica and coal dust require attention to their specific exposure risks.
Environmental duties. Dust leaving a site may also be subject to state environmental laws, site licences and approval conditions. In Victoria, the general environmental duty requires businesses to eliminate or reduce risks of harm from pollution so far as reasonably practicable.
Measure what matters. Visible dust reduction alone does not establish compliance. A suppression system belongs within a wider dust management plan, supported by suitable operating practices and monitoring.

In practice: iron ore mining
At an Australian iron ore operation, the published project approach combined Dry Fog at an open feed hopper with a NESCO water spray system at a stacker. Different hotspots called for different controls.

Questions about dust suppression
What is the best dust suppression system for a quarry or mine?
It depends on the material, dust particle size, hotspot, wind exposure and operating process. An enclosed transfer point and an open stockpile usually call for different controls.
Can dust suppression help with respirable dust?
A properly selected control can help reduce dust released at source. Its effectiveness for a particular contaminant and worker exposure must be assessed and verified for that site; visible dust reduction alone does not establish compliance.
Will fogging wet our material?
Airtight’s Dry Fog technology is intended to suppress dust with minimal added moisture at suitable material handling points. The result depends on system design and operating conditions.
Can we treat several hotspots on one site?
Yes. A site assessment can identify where a combination of targeted fogging, sprays, wind protection and other controls is appropriate.
